Academic Seminar:

Five academic seminars by invited scholars and student preventative whose academic or research fields are related to the topics will be delivered of HITWH-ISSLASO 2018, inspiring all the delegates’ enthusiasm and thoughts. Delegates can absorb essential knowledge and interesting stories according to their tastes.

Language Study:

The Chinese Language training courses in HITWH are divided into two levels: primary and secondary, offering Chinese listening, speaking, reading, writing and cultural experience. During the HITWH-ISSLASO 2018, only primary level courses including 6 teaching hours will be applied. Delegate need to attend class and pass the examination by the end of the study.

Lab Tour:

Delegates will be invited to pay a visit to laboratories at HITWH. Experimentation and practice is the key to the evolvement of technology and exploration will spur our innovation.

HRT Lab

Harbin Institute of Technology Racing Team (HRT), founded in 2009, is the one for participating in Formula SAE competitions. As one of the earliest formula racing teams in China, HRT now owns over 130 students mainly majoring in automotive Engineering, electronics, material Science, machinery Engineering, finance and other related majors. Since its foundation, the team has already designed and manufactured five cars for FSAE. Over the past few years, HRT has been quickly moving forward.

UAV Lab

UAV innovation laboratory, Harbin Institute of Technology, was founded in November 7th, 2014, aiming to promote the development, sales and service of UAV system. The students started the company in November 2015. The entrepreneurial team focused on the overall solution design, service of the UAV system and various fields, including the research, production, sales, maintenance services and technical support of multi rotor, fixed wing UAV system, aviation model, underwater vehicle; professional education and training of UAV control and aeromodelling technology; outsourcing of small aviation equipment; aerial video, aerial advertising, aerial surveying and mapping and monitoring; aircraft and other automated equipment testing; etc. At present, this team, including 2 doctors, 1 master degree candidate, 14 undergraduate students, has gained 6 UAV technology patents, 2 software copyrights and achieved excellent results in all kinds of competitions.

Cultural Experience:

Delegates will have a first-hand experience on various forms of Chinese traditional culture, such as calligraphy, paper cutting, taichi, and dumpling making. This can be a very moving but enjoyable experience – both for us to deliver and for you to receive.

Moreover, the exchange of culture in own country will offer the delegate representatives chance to show his/her country and special cultural stories with all the participants and to enrich everybody the knowledge you may do not know before.

Calligraphy

In China calligraphy occupies a distinguished position in the field of traditional art. It is not only a means of communication, but also a means of expressing a person's inner world in an aesthetic sense. It has endured for more than 2000 years and is still thriving in the 21st century. It presents a connection between the natural world and humans while suggesting an extraordinary high-level of wisdom and refined taste of art. By observing these art works, people can immerse themselves in the enjoyment fine art bring us as well as gain the inspiration of philosophy. Meanwhile, practicing in calligraphy can enrich our mind so that we could rise to a higher state of mind. Therefore, calligraphy becomes a popular approach for foreign students to comprehend Chinese culture.


Taichi

Known as an intangible cultural heritage of China, Tai chi is a system of boxing skills, a martial art, a sport and a fitness training program. It is based on Taichi and Yinyang dialectical philosophy developed from the Chinese traditional Confucianism and Tao philosophy, aimed to smoothing one’s temperament and strengthening one's body. Its moves are slow, gentle and beautiful. Practicing tai chi chuan makes one strong, cultivates one's mind and enhances one's physical health


Dumplings

Dumplings or Jiaozi, originally named as Jiaoer, is one of the traditional Chinese foods which are shaped like crescent moons. It is said that dumplings were first cooked in China some 1,600 years ago. Dumplings enjoy a great popularity among Chinese people and are a must in the Spring Festival feast in most parts of northern China. Besides, in many provinces, people include dumplings as a common dish on their table. As a Chinese saying goes, “nothing could be more delicious than dumplings,” which effectively proves the importance of dumplings for Chinese. Furthermore, the fillings for dumplings are various, each representing a different meaning in Chinese folk culture. Dumplings are more than just an ordinary delicacy. They are symbols of Chinese culture expressing the longings and desires of happiness .Therefore, with this experience of making dumplings; you will be more familiar with Chinese culture.

Recreational Activities:

Some recreational activities, such as fun games competition, beach volleyball, and talent shows in the farewell party will be arranged to break the barriers between participants, to increasing communications between delegates and to help build long-lasting friendships.

Besides, the visit to Changyu Wine Museum, Huancui Pavilion, Weihai Folk Culture Village, and Huaxia Town will surely offer you the enjoyment on fine view, as well as the stirring Chinese civilization.

Huaxia Town

"China Legend" is a large-scale landscape real-life performance directed by the famous Chinese director Zhao An. It created the world's first 360-degree rotating propelled amphitheater and an open-air arena with real landscape scenery. The performance consists of a prologue and six- scenes: Separation between Heaven and Earth----Creation of the World by Pangu, Tracing the Ancestors of the Chinese Nation, Harmony Between Heaven and Earth, Life in Paradise, Cultures and Customs of China, Descendants of the Dragon, Peace and Prosperity. Each one represents a unique characteristic of Chinese civilization, depicting the world of ancient Chinese mythology, the first manifestation of the ancient people's imagination.


Changyu Wine Culture Museum

Changyu Wine Culture Museum, located in Yantai City, is one of the few professional museums in the world's wine industry. It was built in 1992 by the Changyu Group Co. LTD with an investment of 4.5 million yuan on the eve of the centennial celebration of the group, and was opened to public in September 1992. Inside the museum there is a wine culture museum plaza, a large underground wine cellar hall that has existed for more than a hundred years, an integrated hall, a history room and an auditorium. Aided by a comprehensive introduction to the history of Changyu Company, its corporate culture and knowledge of wine culture, visitors will see a miniature of the development of the Chinese wine industry.


Wan Tsui House Park

Wan Tsui House Park is located in the center of Weihai City and covers an area of 300 acres. It is named after the ancient building "Wan Tsui House". It includes the two parts of Huan Tsui Park and Wan Tsui House Plaza. The park has a long history,with gloomy trees,strange mountains and rocks , and the elegant environment. As the main view of the park, Wan Tsui House is a famous ancient building group in Weihai. It was built in 1489. It has a building area of 800 square meters and a height of 16.8 meters. When you climb to Wan Tsui House, you can see the view from afar. The public island is full of weather. The park has an animal area, a flower area, a play area, etc. All kinds of service facilities are complete. It is a good place for people to rest and explore.


Folk Culture Village

The overall style of Weihai Folk Culture Village is the Jiaodong architectural style of the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty, and the courtyard structure of classical gardens. It has brought together many types of business such as Sinology education, Chinese traditional calligraphy and painting, tea and ceramics culture, culture media, design and creativity, Chinese leisure and cuisine, and so on. Due to the cultural tourism, art collection exhibitions, academic exchanges, creative research and development, specialty dining, entertainment, and other rich functions, Folk Culture Village has been the spiritual highlands where masters and artists work together.
